Skyward Foundation Makes Largest Donation in Its History
Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Skyward Specialty joined voices worldwide condemning the senseless violence against the Ukrainian people by Russian forces. The ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict created a severe humanitarian crisis affecting women, children, and families across the Ukrainian countryside. Under the threat of continued long-range missile strikes and bombings, more than 4.1 million refugees, as of March 30th, fled the country to stay alive - marking the largest humanitarian crisis since World War II.
Skyward Specialty is committed to supporting local and global relief efforts guided towards making a change and helping those in challenging situations. Given the scale of the emerging refugee crisis and the increasing need for support, the Skyward Foundation, the Company’s employee-led, Company-funded organization that supports community outreach and employee volunteerism, pledged $10,000 to UNICEF’s relief efforts in Ukraine. In addition, the Skyward Foundation pledged to match every employee donation made to UNICEF during March 2022. In response, employees across the Company and members of the Skyward Specialty Board of Directors raised an impressive $33,563. With employee donations combined with the Foundation’s match and $10,000 pledge, Skyward Specialty made a collective $77,127 donation to UNICEF, the largest donation in the Foundation’s short history.
“In 2020, when we established the Skyward Foundation, we wanted to support employee giving and volunteers efforts, but more than that, we wanted to inspire activation among our employees to create opportunities for expanding our reach in the communities where we live and work,” said Skyward Specialty CEO Andrew Robinson. “With the exponential growth in our Company over the past two years, we pledge to stay committed to fighting social injustices. Our employees are incomparable in their drive to make a difference and continue to show up without exception – truly exhibiting the true spirit of what going skyward means and what we are trying to achieve as a Company.”
